The Anglican Tradition:
Anglicanism has a vibrant history of worship and is known for its musical tradition, especially Choral Evensong and Anglican Chant. Whether or not you have heard of Anglicanism, you definitely have heard of Anglicans. Many of the English speaking world’s greatest composers were Anglican: Tallis, Merbecke, Byrd, and many many more. For more information about St. Mark’s, Anglicanism, and what we believe, please see our about page.

Time Commitment: Sunday  at 10:00 AM & Rehearsals
In addition to the Sunday service and the necessary rehearsal times, there are occasional weekday services once a month. Taking off Sundays and other services is of course negotiable.

Compensation: DOE

Pay for this position depends on the experience and the commitment of the one hired. Being a Church, we are fairly flexible. The one who can commit more will obviously be compensated more. As it stands now, the negotiated base pay is likely to increase as St. Mark's is currently in a phase of growth and expansion. For instance, if the Sunday service were to become two services, then the compensation for serving at both services would double.

Qualifications: A vocalist / chorister

We are looking for someone who is administratively driven and able to assist the clergy in furnishing God's worship with music. We are looking for someone who can both sing and train others to sing as well as facilitate rehearsal times and communicate clearly with the clergy regarding the musical needs of the Church.

We are currently in search for an Organist or competent Pianist willing to be trained on the Organ to provide accompaniment for our congregational singing.

The Anglican Tradition:

Whether or not you have heard of Anglicanism, you definitely have heard of Anglicans. Many of the English speaking world’s greatest figures were Anglican: Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis, J.I. Packer, J.C. Ryle, N.T. Wright, and many many more. For more information about St. Mark’s, Anglicanism, and what we believe, please see our about page.

Time Commitment: Sunday Mornings at 10:00 AM.

In addition to the Sunday service there are occasional weekday services once a month. Taking off Sundays and other services is of course negotiable.

Compensation: $75 a Service.
This is subject to increase, especially if the job becomes more demanding. St. Mark’s is in a period of growth and Sunday morning worship may transition into two services. If the organist chooses to play at both, then of course compensation will be doubled.

Qualifications: An organist or a competent pianist
Pianist would need to be willing to learn the organ.
The Organist Guild of Sacramento provides scholarships to train pianists on the organ. This may be a neat opportunity for a student interested in choral music hoping to get more experience.
